Hurricane Dora has started to weaken as it moves westward in the Eastern Pacific.
At 5 a.m. today, the center of the storm was about 1,270 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja Peninsula. The storm, while weakening, is still a category-3 tropical typhoon packing maximum sustained winds of 120 mph, which means it is still a major hurricane.
Additional weakening is forecast for the next couple of days.
The storm is moving to the west at 18 mph, and on its current track, is forecast to pass well south of Hawaii on Tuesday.
